This website is primarily about people. I am particularly interested in photographing people who adopt another identity and how they express their individuality – whether through costume, grooming or body art. The site is not really about my ability with a camera, it is about the people, every time. I call them ‘people of character’.

The images shown here were all taken ‘on location’, that is, in a public place, whether on the street or inside a building. Almost exclusively they are shot using available light, apart from some of the portraits taken in Ethiopia. All subjects are aware that I am taking their photograph and, through direct eye contact, I receive their tacit approval.

The website is a work in progress, further images and new projects will be added at irregular intervals over the coming weeks and months.
